As we plan for our five-state region’s future economic growth, special focus must be given to the infrastructure required to capitalize on our unique array of federal investments and brainpower.  During this Summit session hear from entrepreneurs who have already leveraged relationships and opportunities in national security, clean-up technology, and advanced manufacturing to create and grow new businesses.  And learn from representatives of our region’s federally funded organizations about how we prepare for more entrepreneurial inspired growth in the future.

3:45 to 5:30 p.m.          Session II : Addressing America’s Future Security Threats

Presenting Sponsor: Teledyne Brown Engineering

One of the unfortunate consequences of the birth of the nuclear power in the TVC is the resulting legacy wastes located within a region that is known for its natural beauty.  During this Summit session learn how the federally funded effort to clean-up these wastes has given birth to another new industry dedicated to restoring the environment and re-using once contaminated properties. And demonstrating how we’re making nature and brown field development compatible in the TVC.

10:30 to 12:15 p.m.      Session IV: TVC—A Model for Advanced Manufacturing

Presenting Sponsor: Wacker

The TVC continues to be a center of excellence in government and private sector manufacturing. Often the expertise and technology developed to provide national security and explore space has been transferred into the private sector to manufacture cars and other commercial products.  During this Summit Session learn about how the TVC is hosting federally funded efforts to develop new materials, processes and techniques that can be transferred into the private sector.
